1,076 graduates receive scrolls for PhD, master’s, bachelor’s, diplomas, professional certificates and skills certificates
Pekan, Pahang, 26 February, 2023 – DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DRB-HICOM U) celebrated years of hard work and achievements of its students during a two-day graduation ceremony held in Pekan, Pahang.
The 7th convocation ceremony, the first to be held physically after a three-year hiatus, commemorated the resilience and accomplishment of the students who struggled through two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ceremony, which was held on 25 and 26 February, was conducted in three sessions with Board of Governor’s Chairman Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar conferring the scrolls to the graduates in the first session.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Sr. Dr. Omar Osman conferred the scrolls for the subsequent sessions.
During this convocation, the university conferred a total of 1,076 students with PhD, master’s and bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, professional certificates and skills certificates.
Prof. Omar, in his speech, said the university conferred seven PhD degrees for the very first time during this convocation.
“Insha-Allah, we will see more PhD graduates produced by this university in line with the university’s efforts in the implementation of research networks between universities, government and private sector,” he said proudly.
Prof. Omar urged the graduates to continue pursuing their quest for knowledge, as this will enable them to achieve their aspirations.
The university also awarded Book Prizes, Special Awards, Vice Chancellor’s Awards, Chairman’s Awards and Chancellor’s Awards to 75 graduates of 2020, 2021 and 2022.
In his acceptance speech, 2022 Chairman’s Award recipient Abdullah Hakim Yunus urged his fellow graduates to pursue their dreams, continue to grow and strive for success. Hakim graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Mechatronic) with Honours with a CGPA of 3.96.
The 2022 Chancellor’s Award recipient Aiza Syahira Azhar, now a staff member at DRB-HICOM U, completed her Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Supply Chain Management with CGPA of 3.96. Aiza thanked all the lecturers who sacrificed their time, energy and thoughts in educating, guiding and imparting knowledge of the world to the students.
To date, 34 academic programmes in DRB-HICOM U have been given full accreditation with four new programmes expected to be accredited in the first quarter of 2023.
